Mar 4 - 7PM Message-ID: MacTechGroup The MacTechGroup holds meetings for Macintosh programmers on the first Wednesday of each month at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. Next Meeting: Mar 4 2015 7:00 PM Building E51 Room 151 MIT Sloan School NOTE THAT OUR OFFICIAL ROOM IS 151 - but check the other rooms in that corridor!!!!! Note Room Change to 151. (We may reroute you on wednesday. Check 151 first) Speaker: John Shockey Topic: "Evolution of an Interface" On a recent project, I needed to design the interface between two objects. It was a graphing application, and the typical Apple "Data Source" protocol seemed perfect for the job. As the application grew, some issues with that decision became more obvious -- some of them inherent, and some related to the specifics of what I was doing. I'll try to talk about those issues, and how I changed the interface to deal with them. There should be plenty of opportunity for the group to tell me where I might have gone wrong (or right), and what you'd havedone instead. So though I'll have my own set of questions and answers, I hope you'll have alternate viewpoints, and we'll all learn something! I hope there will be something here for Apple programmers of a wide variety of experience levels.P.S. If you're coming, rsvp at Meetup.com . People decide they're coming based on how many others say Yes! ************************ You can get a map showing building E51 at .y=1640&hi=bldg_e51&zoom.x=89&zoom.y=38> The MacTechGrp always meets the first Wednesday of the month.
